RCP
Wins 1st Place Again
in the Michigan AACT/FEST
RCP’s performance of “No Exit” written by Jean-Paul
Sartre and directed by Lindy Bruton received high praise
from the judges at the American Association of Community
Theater’s 2007 State of Michigan Play Festival
held in South Haven, MI the weekend of March 23-25,
2007.
"No Exit" is an existentialism piece which
says that each person is responsible for his own acts
and for the consequences of those acts. Three people
destined to spend all eternity together. Are they each
others punishment? Setting: Hell, 1940's. The cast included
David Fedewa as the Bellboy, Larry Rink as Cradeau,
Donna Hansen as Inez and Tamara Gries as Estelle.
In addition to taking home the honor of being named
BEST OVERALL PRODUCTION at the Festival. “No Exit”
also won for BEST ENSEMBLE and Lindy Bruton won for
BEST DIRECTOR. The production crew consisted of: Dave
Anderson, Marian Fedewa, Eileen and Michael Gallagher,
Karen McHugh and Don and Jan Turner.
This is a back to back win for RCP, taking home first
place in 2005 for the production of “Proof”.
As this year’s winner, RCP will represent the
State of Michigan (along with Red Barn Community Players,
Saugatuck) at the next level of competition which will
be held in Illinois at the end of April. RCP will compete
against winning productions from Wisconsin, Ohio, Illinois
and Indiana. This is followed by the National AACT/FEST
which will be held in North Carolina in June.
RCP feels very proud to be honored by the American
Association of Community Theater and the Community Theater
Association of Michigan. We would like to congratulate
our host, Ichabod’s Little Theatre in the Hollow
who organized a very successful festival. We would also
like to congratulate the participating community theatre
groups. The competition was very strong and everyone
should be commended for their fine performances. We
will work hard to make Michigan proud at the regional
level. It was truly an exciting and rewarding experience
for everyone involved.
